The BurnerMate Universal offers complete boiler control in an economical, off-the-shelf, pre-programmed controller. Separate processors are used for flame safeguard and combustion control for NFPA 85 compliance. Configuration is done in the field using the LCD touch pad, optional touch screen, or our exclusive MS Windows-based configuration wizard running on your PC.

The BurnerMate Universal contains an
integral flame safeguard system that cycles bm products
the burner through Standby, Purge, Light-off,
Release to Modulate, and Post Purge states.
The flame safeguard logic is fully integrated
with the combustion control, as well as optional
draft and feedwater control. The flame safeguard
hardware, BMU scanners, and flame safeguard
software is all U.L. recognized. configuration
wizard running on your PC.

The BurnerMate Universal offers optional draft
control and single-, two-, or three-element
boiler feedwater control fully integrated with
the flame safeguard functions. Configured by
parameter selection, control functions can be
simple for routine applications, or employ
powerful control algorithems for difficult
applications. Stack dampers and feedwater
valves can be controlled by servo or separate
4-20 mA analog outputs are available for stack
dampers, feedwater valves, or VSDs.

The following BMU system components are required for a complete system.

The BMU chassis contains the
microprocessors that perform all
of the system control functions. An
option is available with oxygen
trim/indication. A separate option
includes draft and feedwater control.
The chassis can be shipped loose or mounted in a 30" H x 24" W x 10" D standard cabinet. The LCD touch pad (right) can be shipped loose, mounted on the BMU chassis cover, or flush-mounted on the standard enclosure.

The following BurnerMate Universal system components are optional. The BMU was designed so that typical existing boiler components could be reused. Preferred field devices have been engineered specifically for the BMU and are 100% compatible.

BurnerMate Universal flame scanners are available in
ultraviolet, infrared, and self-checking ultraviolet models.
Each includes a relay contact that closes when flame is
sensed, and a 4-20 mA output proportional to the flame
signal that is used for flame strength indication. Flame
status and flame relay LEDs are provided on the back of the scanner.
All BMU scanners use the same 5 pin military style connector
so scanners can be changed or replaced with no
wiring required.

The BMU-OIT Bridge provides a pre-configured communication interface between the BMU and the outside world via a variety of open protocols including Modbus, Ethernet, Bacnet, and many more. The OIT Bridge is a cost effective alternative to the color touchscreens when OPC communications are required.

The Preferred Instruments ZP zirconium oxide in-situ oxygen probe wires directly to the BMU chassis. By parameter configuration, the BMU can be set up for oxygen indication or oxygen trim control.

BurnerMate Universal's optional 10" color touch screen provides an intuitive, graphical interface both for commissioning the system, and operating the boiler. More than 75 screens have been pre-configured into this available off-the-shelf touch screen module. Graphic screens include:
